Selling Websites as a Business
It takes just as much work to build a failed online business as it does to build a winner which is why I always recommend selling websites as the way to go.
This is especially true if you are starting up on a tight budget or are new to the ‘make money online’ market. There are a thousand and one products and courses about making money online and 99.9% of them will leave you out of pocket.
So how does selling websites stand up to other business models?
Affiliate marketing works but its not a short learning curve and most people give in long before conquering the method.
PPC works but you need access to plenty of cash (or plastic) to bank roll the system. When I first got involved with it a few years ago I was making 4 or 5 dollars for every one I spent. Nowadays a $1.50 return for your dollar is considered a winning campaign.
Blogging works but it’s long term and the success (actually making any money) rate is extremely low. You need tens of thousands of hits a day to make even a half decent living although if it’s a subject you love I would recommend you give it a go. It costs about $5 a month for hosting so all you need is time and commitment.
Building an e-commerce store is a definite winner but they do require time and a lot of planning/research. I’ve built and sold several of these for 5 figures and will be laying out a model to follow in a later post.
Building and selling websites compared to the above methods is extremely easy and just about as close to bullet proof as you can get. If you have already dipped your toes into the world of making money online you can use what you have picked up to build a real business instead of chasing a dream.
For instance, if you tried making money with Adsense but found the best you could do was a few dollars a site, start selling them and building more ready to sell. Before you know it you can have a system in place making you a good living. A site making just $2 a day will sell for between $600 and $1000
Built an online store but it only makes you a few hundred a month instead of the thousands you hoped? Sell it and build another. A site making $200 profit a month will sell for anywhere from $2000 to $3000
So if its so great why don’t more people sell sites for a living? Most people in the make money online market are chasing a dream. They stumble onto a sales pitch promising to spill the beans of how some 17 year old kid makes “$24,019 a day by doing NOTHING but clicking a few buttons” and get sucked into the dream.
That one doesn’t work but they are smitten with the dream and then spend the next few years going from one false promise to another. Always chasing the dream. Always believing the next one is the real deal.
Its true people are making fortunes online but they are working hard for it and its true some have made huge amounts over night but they would have spent the last 6 months working 20 hours a day creating a product to sell.
You’re welcome to keep chasing the dream, you can always come back later
